Sourcing Lab Chrome Extension — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 6 October 2026 · Applies to the "Sourcing Lab" extension for Google Chrome, published by Seller Lab Ltd.

Sourcing Lab is a browser extension for Amazon sellers. When you open a product page on a retailer's website, it works out the profit, ROI and Amazon fees you would get selling that product on Amazon, using the costs and VAT settings in your Seller Lab account. This policy explains exactly what the extension reads, what it sends to us, what it stores, and the choices you have.

1. Who we are

Seller Lab Ltd

Seller Lab Ltd is the data controller for the personal data described here. Our website privacy policy, which covers the Seller Lab web app, is at sellerlab.co.uk/privacy; this page is specific to the extension.

2. What the extension reads from the pages you visit

To identify the product you are looking at, the extension reads the following from the current page: the product title, the displayed price and currency, the product barcode (EAN/GTIN) where the page publishes one, the Amazon ASIN if the page is an Amazon listing, and the page URL. It looks only for product information marked up by the retailer (structured data such as schema.org/Product and standard product meta tags). It does not read the text you type, form contents, passwords, payment details, cookies, or any other part of the page.

This reading happens in your browser. Nothing from a page is sent anywhere unless you have the Sourcing Lab side panel open and signed in — the extension needs to look up that product for you.

3. What is sent to Seller Lab, and why

DataWhyWhere it goes
Product title, price, currency, barcode, ASIN and page URL of the product you are viewingTo match the product to its Amazon listing and calculate fees, profit and ROI for youSeller Lab's servers (our API)
Your Seller Lab sign-in tokenSo the lookup uses your own account: your Amazon fee quotes, VAT position and cost settingsSent with each request to Seller Lab's servers; never to anyone else

We use this data only to provide the extension's features to you. Product lookups you make may be kept in your Seller Lab account as your sourcing history, so you can see them again in the web app. We do not sell this data, do not use it for advertising, and do not share it with third parties except our infrastructure providers who host our servers (currently Railway and MongoDB Atlas, under contract to us) and Amazon's Selling Partner API, which we query on your behalf to fetch fees and listing data for the product.

4. What the extension stores on your device

The extension stores two things in Chrome's extension storage on your computer: your Seller Lab sign-in token, and which Seller Lab environment you are signed in to. It obtains the token from the Seller Lab website when you sign in there, so you do not have to sign in twice. Nothing else is stored locally — no browsing history, no list of pages visited, no product history on the device. Signing out of Seller Lab, or removing the extension, deletes the stored token.

5. Permissions the extension asks for, in plain English

PermissionWhat it is used for
Read data on all websites (<all_urls>)You can source stock from any retailer, so the extension must be able to read product details on whichever shop you are on. It only extracts the product fields listed in section 2.
Side panelTo show the profit panel next to the page.
TabsTo know which tab you are looking at so the panel shows that product.
ScriptingTo read the product details from the page when the panel asks for them.
StorageTo remember your sign-in token (section 4).

6. How long we keep data

Product lookups kept as sourcing history remain in your Seller Lab account until you delete them or close your account. Server logs that may contain the URL of a product you looked up are kept for up to 30 days for security and debugging. Your sign-in token on your device is kept until you sign out or remove the extension.

7. Legal basis (UK GDPR)

We process this data to perform our contract with you — providing the Seller Lab service you have signed up for (Article 6(1)(b)) — and, for security logging, on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure (Article 6(1)(f)).

8. Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict its processing, and ask for it in a portable format. Email support@sellerlab.co.uk and we will respond within one month. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. Deleting your Seller Lab account deletes your sourcing history.

9. Children

The extension is a business tool for Amazon sellers and is not intended for anyone under 18.

10. Chrome Web Store user data policy

The use of information received from Google APIs and from the pages you visit adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use the data only to provide and improve the extension's user-facing features, we do not sell it, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not allow humans to read it except with your consent, for security purposes, or to comply with the law.

11. Changes

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, tell you inside the Seller Lab app.
